Description
She is credited as the executive producer for the first season, and consulting producer for the second. During the first season, she used her deviantArt page to reply to fans and address questions about the show. She later added a Frequently Asked Questions entry that collected these questions and answers.
Shortly after the final episode of the first season aired, Faust announced that she had left the show. Her involvement in season two concentrated on story conception and scripts; it diminished through the course of the season. Faust had no involvement in season three though it uses at least one plan of hers that was not used in the first two seasons, and she had no involvement in season four. The My Little Pony Friendship is Magic official guidebook has a foreword by Faust.

I’m fine with the series just being TV-Y or TV-Y7 rated personally.
@thps48
Sure seems like it.
Even as a slice-of-life fan, I think a PG wouldn’t hurt the series.
Slightly off topic, but I completely agree. The movie really put the ponies back into the “Very big world where these small ponies try to find safety in happiness and friendship”, which I felt was the origin of it all.
But, everyone’s milage varies.
It’s long been assumed he likes being set on fire. XD

Please don’t start something…
On that subject, I think it’s a mixed bag about Faust leaving.
On one hand, it’s a shame we’ll never get to see the directions she wanted to take the series, and how different it would’ve turned out, as she did an exelent job modernizing the series, and made it appealing to a wider audience.
On the other hand, fans forget Faust isn’t perfect, or infallible, and not all of her original ideas were great. Like originally, she wanted Applejack to headbutt trees to harvest apples. (Which honestly would’ve looked silly, and lead to many head trauma jokes in the fanbase.) Originally, AppleBloom was going to be the only kid character, and if it wasn’t for “executive meddling” we wouldn’t have the full CMC trio giving more variety to the cast. If Fire Fly wasn’t changed into Rainbow Dash, we wouldn’t of had Sonic Rainbooms, and in a way she made rainbows “cool” again during a time when people thought they were lame, or (if you’ll excuse the expression) “gay.”. So honestly, some of the executive meddling was for the better.
Basically, she had great ideas, and bad ones like we all do. So that’s why I say it’s a mixed bag.
Even with it’s grating plot holes, stuff in Star Wars to me has the ability to make sense anyway. Why the Emperor is simply a bastard with no other apparent motivations seems more theological in a way, as most of the series’ plots center around the philosophies of the two unseen forces of light and darkness, Yin and Yang, that sort of thing. He’s not an Anti-Christ or Hitler or whomever, those guys had a purpose and were reaching towards a goal. The Emperor comes off more like Giygas or Ganon and Demise, pure unwavering maliciousness, a total embodiment of the dark side of the force who only seeks to spread darkness across the galaxy.
Go look at Star Wars.
show seems fine to me,i go in with low expectations,looking to just enjoy some light hearted slice of life comedy with cute ponies and most of the time i get just that.
even “muh plotholes” and “muh flanderization” doesnt bother me much,i know im just watching a cartoon and there will be crazy shenanigans going on and other stuff that might not make sense,as long as its entertaining im ok.
You make a very good point. Seems like double-standards to me. They act like those rabid critics are poor innocent souls, no matter how aggressive they act, yet if the show staff say anything, they’re suddenly “evil.” I don’t get it, and even if people like Murrison have some understandable critiques, that doesn’t really excuse their behavior.
Also, they forget something… They consider themselves legit “critics” when all they criticicize is some kid show. Somebody needs a job.
And yeah, I like TMNT too, it’s still a kid show, but it has it’s dark moments, and can appeal to parents, and older TMNT fans too. It even has nods & characters from the older canons. (Even had a hilarious crossover with the original TMNT cartoon, and unlike “Turtles Forever” it wasn’t too biased, the classic turtles were more in-character, and had the original VAs come back.)
Just ‘cause a show is mainly targetting kids, doesn’t mean anyone else can’t enjoy it either.
I honestly think MLP:FiM has done a good job over the years appealing to a wide audience, (without the need of random swears, poopy jokes, and such) already, otherwise the brony fandom, and this site wouldn’t exist.
Good God, I remember seeing a guy say he would put political commentary in MLP, if he were in charge… (’Cause that certainly made “Family Guy” get better… Sarcasm…)
Yeah, had a feeling my satirical intent wouldn’t excuse the rule #0 violation, but I wanted to try anyway. So, trying to address this gem of a comment more directly:
@Background Pony #F7E2
“They” can mean either children or parents. Meanwhile, “them” can also mean either children or parents. SECOND BASE! XD
oh i remember that as I recall people were basically saying that lauren faust wanted a show that young children had to watch with their parents or older children and not one that they could watch with them

Yeah, though apparently Spike TV made him make it more “adult” then he wanted, so it went the opposite extreme. John K. said if he makes a new R&S show, he’d prefer not to take it that far, or make it a bit more family friendly like the Nick show. (Well, as much as R&S could get away with.)

I have to say I don’t buy it that John K. regretted it, there have been too many thing saying how what he wanted it to be when on Nick was closer to Adult Party Cartoon.
People forget that “Adult” and “Mature” aren’t the same thing.
