Most of the VAS have ponysona characters who don’t appear in the show, and Lena Hall announced she’d be voicing in the show with a tweet of a ponysona, so I figured this was the same situation.
Nobody is implying anywhere that we didn’t think she would be voicing and singing for a character named songbird serenade.
If it’s the official channel flat out saying Sia joining the movie, then I’m inclined to beleive it’s voicing too.
Plus it’s the movie. They always go out with celebrity voices to get a bit of the normal people audience.
Again, while we were handed that new design then, we did not know for sure if that was indeed the pony that she would be voicing. Given the striking similarities between that pony and Sia in real life, it could have just as easily been her ponysona.

We never got official confimation that the pony revealed then was the one she’d actually be voicing, until now that is.
We’ve known what she’s looked like for months. 20 bucks says she’s the fancy opening song at the start of the film then has the concert go awry with storms and stuff, starting the film.
