In addition, each issue usually has a few variant covers when released, some of which are very difficult to find.  
There’s also “Adventures in Friendship”, which are hard-cover compilations that contain a couple specific issues. No new content and it only contains a handful of issues overall.

Collecting individual physical issues, especially rare variants of older ones, can be difficult. And expensive.
 
Volumes are easy to find (Amazon.com has them) and cheaper than hunting down out-of-print back issues. Digital formats are also a lot cheaper (for older issues) and never go out of print.

Friendship is Magic: 50 issues so far, ongoing main series. Also available in Volumes and Omnibus format.  
Micro Series: 10 issues, also available as two “Pony Tails” volumes.  
Friends Forever: 38 issues, the last two release this month and next month. Also available in Volumes and Omnibus format.  
FIENDship is Magic: 5 issues, also available as one volume.  
Legends of Magic: Ongoing series that will replace Friends Forever starting in April.
 
Volumes contain at least 4 issues, plus an art gallery at the end with variant covers. Omnibus contains a dozen issues, but have a smaller page size, don’t include bonus pages and variant covers are used only between issues as dividers.
 
Special Issues:  
Annual 2013: Equestria Girls and Equestria Girls Holiday Special: these two 48 page specials are also available in a single Euqestria Girls Volume. However, this volume does not include the 8-page Sunset Shimmer backstory by Andy Price from Annual 2013.
 
Annual 2014: Power Ponies: a 48-page comic.
 
My Little Pony Holiday Special: a 20-page one-shot.
 
Annual 2017: Guardians of Harmony: 48 pages, not released yet.
 
My Little Pony Deviations: a one-shot “what-if story”. Not released yet. Also seems like it will be available in a Deviations Volume with other franchises such as Star Trek and Judge Dredd.
 
There’s also an Art Gallery issue and a Cover Gallery issue (shame they never did more of these), as well as a large “Art is Magic” book that contains interviews, covers, in-progress versions of pages, and some original art as well.

Where can I find like, a comprehensive list of the pony comics so far?
 
I want to try to collect them all but don’t even know where to start since there’s “Friends Forever” and “Pony Tales” and like 1 or 2 other branches and issues and volumes and numbers and all kinds of stuff I don’t quite get the organization of.
 
This one looks good, though. I’m a celly fan, so assuming they portrayed her fairly, it’d be fun to see something with her.

It’s a younger pony form that Discord gave her, but its not implied to be how she looked when she was actually that age.
