This sentence right here is why I love Trixie so much. Trixie didn't drastically change her behavior to redeem herself. She is still the same egocentric and braggadocious pony she always was. Now, however, through her friendship with Starlight, it has caused her to be more caring and more friendly. Now, personally, I feel like Trixie iwas actually a nice persony. It's just that she's dealing with so many insecurities that she pretends to be greater than everyone else. With so, I believe that all Trixie really wanted this whole time was someone who loved her warts and all, and that her friendship with Starlight is bringing out a side she always had but was afraid to show.
