Wow. I actually liked the new changelings but I cant really disagree with any of that.  
After the season 5 finale, I guess I was just so glad we didn’t get a repeat with chrysalis that I didn’t really care what happened to the other changelings.
 
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how things play out in season 7.

You are confusing all-encompassing tyranny with sadism. We are given nothing to believe she doesn’t treat her loyal subjects with respect. Her speech demonstrates both how she will get stronger while still protected by the throne’s magic; AND how both she AND her subjects will grow strong and fed for generations. If she herself doesn’t get stronger, with Discord on the warpath, the changelings will be forced into hiding in the badlands forever. All her changelings except for her advance agents will starve.
 
Chrysalis and her changelings are both naturally predisposed for evil actions, like vampires in a sense when it comes to blood, from birth, and enjoy the heck out of it. The remaining doppelgangers and any other changelings not at the hive still have Chrysalis as their Queen, and they have no intention of throwing their entire identity away. Chrysalis has an incredible capacity for evil and is a natural sadist, but that sadism does not extend to her own loyal subjects.

A good quality cartoon has to have good writing. This isn’t rocket science. However, this IS a completely foreign concept to the toy makers at Hasbro, but most at DHX understand and try despite all the compromises they have to make. Its a constant struggle.

A lot of people have lost faith in the show because of its ineptitude to wrap finale’s and premier’s stories in anything BUT a shoddy Barbie ending. Examples?
 
They spend ages trying to convince us that Twilight being made an alicorn princess was an earned and natural conclusion…
 
Payoff? Abandoned. Flurry Heart is born an alicorn princess, making Twilight’s ‘ascension’ completely meaningless beyond obvious mentor nepotism, and even Celestia of all people is losing patience with Twilight in S6.
 

 
They create a new character for S5 and S6, Starlight Glimmer(with the most unoriginal OC name in history) who tried to create a society of ponies who hated their lives due to their cutie marks, was a villain due to doing the other extreme, and opening up important questions and possible balance for future ponies who don’t like their destiny….
 
Payoff? Abandoned. No middleground is ever considered or discussed. The others, including Starlight herself, has convinced themselves that Starlight stole cutie marks against their will and pretended there wasn’t an underlying cause on why the villagers abandoned their old lives due to issues with their cutie marks. Heck, they still hate their old lives since they are still in hiding in the remote village Starlight founded. But everyone’s overjoyed because the natural order shouldn’t be questioned ever /sarcasm
 
And the character herself, Starlight? They decide to not only make her backstory impossible when it was revealed she could of easily entered Celestia’s academy before she got her cutie mark, she completely abandons her old philosophy and major issues and they simply skip the process of her becoming a flawed but trusted companion entirely. The most important part of her character was rushed in a few minute montage.
 

 
The changelings, almost all born killers and many grow up to be mean-spirited deceivers who enjoy being changelings, with just a few aberrations who learn to love and evolve without absorbing love like Thorax(and Kevin)….
 
Payoff? Abandoned. Just giving even a little bit of love would suddenly transform them into antler fairies. We can just forget that the changelings are killing machines from birth and most enjoy what they do as adults…they follow Thorax’s example for a second, and they’re cured for life never to feed again. After at least a thousand years (Chrysalis was around as far back as when the Princess Platinum and the unicorns built Canterlot), one suggestion from one pony and one defector who grew to be more humane over a EXTENDED period of time suddenly turns an entire hive of changelings into supposedly harmless antler fairies.
 
This is not one of those harmony blaster situations where its the equivalent of a second chance; where a person looks into a magic mirror and it shows them the ugliness their soul has accumulated, and it shocks them to a point where they can reject their inner demons(very common trope). This is full on lobotomy, they were straight up born with negative inclinations and most of them embraced it with gusto. They guys replacing the Mane 6 and many others were overachievers. Assuming no lobotomy, most of the changelings are going to be mean spirited and aggressive creatures who are only slightly less on edge due to no hunger for emotions
 
Because Hasbro has to wrap everything in a nice little Barbie bow :/

I’m fully aware it’s a cartoon I just happen to care about it it’s kinda why this site exists. People are allowed to talk about the show not everything has to be 100% praise all the time. If you want to think I’m acting like a kid then go ahead but you are the one on an image telling people not to agree with it. Standard images that have nothing to do with the changelings? I would very much like to see your proof of that and where you see me being rude and aggressive especially considering the person I was discussing with in this very thread I agreed with him after talking about it as well as every time I’ve discussed this topic before.
 
You want to call me uncivil show proof you want to say I’m a child for discussing the show on a pony site you might want to rethink what this site is.

At least I can acknowledge the fact that it is still a cartoon. As I said before, it happened. Complaining and behaving like kids isn’t going to change anything. Again you’re making a big deal over something so small. Also I’ve seen comments and complaining in just standard images for the post changelings, especially from you. You can pretend like you’re being a civil person, but you are very quick to argue with people and get very rude if someone doesn’t agree with you. So your last point is invalid.

I couldn’t really see her being reformed that easily, so I’m glad they didn’t go that route.

The changelings have been a fixture in the show since season 3 and were loved so yeah people are going to be a little upset they have been completely changed, it’s not some little thing that happens once and doesn’t effect anything it changed a race of characters to be just like everything else in the show and delivers the message of don’t try to work with a group who need resources just change them to be just like you instead. A lot of us watched the show in hopes to see the Changelings again this wasn’t one character gets some wings or a new character got added this was the utter change of an entire group of characters. Yes some bugs are colorful but there’s a lot that aren’t that doesn’t mean you should paint them. The changelings had their own unique look and biology that made them interesting now they are just cutsey like everything else.
 
Nothing we do will change it because we are just fans but that doesn’t mean we have to be happy about every dumb decision that gets made. The worst part is the show added a possible solution in the finale but completely threw their own idea out the window, Thorax no longer needed to feed thanks to having been given love freely and this was signified by his wings. They could have used this to prove the changelings had a better option but it ended up being pointless and served no purpose, it’s one of the reasons I believe Hasbro forced the change like the writers wrote a better idea but then Hasbro said they had to change at the last minute to sell their toys. Magical fixes are getting repetitive and annoying this right after they started to leave that sort thing behind and even had episode this season saying magic doesn’t solve everything only to have the last episode contradict it.
 
Lastly if you don’t like people voicing their displeasure then filter this type of art, you’re on a picture having to do with distaste of the new changelings so yes there will be comments that mirror it.

I feel people get way too salty over little changes. As I said with Starlight’s redemption, it’s here, it happened, there’s nothing you can do. Also people complain about contrast and gaudy colors, uh bugs have a lot of crazy colors. Beetles, butterflies, and even dragonflies often have these colors. Now there’s no such thing as personal appeal, but people get so whiny and complain like everything part of this show is dedicated to them. Keep in mind this a show targeted to little kids who’s only reason for existence is to only sell toys, this fandom was just a bonus. What is just so eye rolling and why I can’t stand some people is because they get so whiny and upset of such minor changes. You don’t like it, don’t like it, plain and simple. But making a a billion complaints and beating a dead horse about it is really just plain sad. The shear amount of salt coming from some people over the changeling designs really is just insane and unsettling.

They had Discord, the god of chaos. That’s the equivalent of having the elements and they didn’t know about the throne meaning they took a risk for Discord who was more dangerous but then didn’t for Chrysalis.
 
Yet we are not shown that he has a way of tracking Fluttershy he just teleports to her location and we have seen him teleport to random locations before.
 
{Rewatched that scene} I concede on that, she was in it for power and was a tyrant. However Discord only tore the world apart and caused misery because he could and thought it was fun. Yet he was still given a chance on his own terms no less with positive reinforcement and before he could free himself something they had plenty of time to do with Chrysalis or her hive.
