Ekhidna
Lunar Supporter - Helped forge New Lunar Republic's freedom in the face of the Solar Empire's oppressive tyrannical regime (April Fools 2023).
Speaking Fancy -

“The world had come to an end in the most unexpected way. It hadn’t been loud or bombastic or devastating. No. It had been silent and swift.

They could remember it well.

Celestia and Luna had anounced that the final days of Equestria and the entire world were coming and that they, not even Discord in all his power, could stop it. The world wasn’t going to be destroyed, but rather it was going to be reborn. They begged everypony not to panic, for the end would be painless for all and that their souls would leave Paradise. And everypony listened. There were no riots or panicked attacks or nothing of the sort. Everypony, nay, everyone waited for the end to come.

And when it finally did come it did in the form of a bright light that illuminated even the darkest part of the world.

A moment later, everything and everyone was gone. The only things that were left were a barren wasteland and peaceful, calm, melodious rain.

That and two particular figures.

For days they cried. And for weeks they searched. And for months they walked side by side on this new empty world. No thirst or hunger or need to sleep struck them. And they asked why they were still in this world. Why where they being left behind? Was it some kind of punishment? They didn’t know. They had fought, screaming at each other for no other reason than desperation and blind anger, only to hug each other once the rage and the anger and the frustation were gone.

They both lost track of time, having an unending flood rain down upon them without a real notion of day and night anymore. So they now sat at each other side watching the rain in silence. Asking themselves and wondering why they were the only ones left in the world.

Rarity silently passed her right foreleg behind Spike’s back and pulled him close to her drenched but still warm fur. The young dragon didn’t object to her affection. He responded by doing the same as best as he could with his short left arm.

They didn’t know why they were here or what the future had in store for them, but right now, feeling the warmth of the other, they didn’t care for the first time since the world ended.

They looked at each other and smiled, Rarity leaning down to kiss Spike’s forehead. She giggled seeing him blush for a moment before leaning to kiss her chest. Now it was Rarity’s turn to blush and Spike to giggle.

The mare and the dragon shared a laugh moments later for a few seconds before returning their attention to the falling rain. A realization hit them both and it made them press their bodies together even further.

They weren’t alone, they had each other. And whatever happened from this point out, they would face it together.”
