Motion which leads to more extreme pressure differences as some places get higher pressure, which creates lower pressure areas. And that creates more extreme weather. And since the Earth is warming as a sum, that means some places get hotter, allowing other areas to get colder due to the heat having to come from somewhere. But the sum is still hotter than average.
So no, global warming is not a misnomer. It's extremely accurate. But climate change is accurate as well. as the heating changes the climate.
