Wait a minute. Why did she use her previous mane style from season five?
That’s probably the nicest thing anyone’s said to me on this site in months. People usually give me guff here for my opinions, so that’s actually refreshing. I was even considering actually leaving this place for li’l while (or just going into lurker/non-speaking mode) it’s been getting that bad here.
Imagine the backlash if they accidentally gave her green eyes. :P (Hehe)
“It’s that minor a mistake to me”
Skunk,you’re too pure for this world where nerdery reached level of nitpickery never seen since the Star Trek fandom in the 60s and spread since then to every medium available until it sucked all the fun and joy of reading a comic book about pastel toyline characters
If that’s the case, it’s rather unfair people only fault Fosgitt for that, and nobody else. (Especially, just ‘cause he has a different & controversial art style, so some unfortunately are just looking for any excuse to hate on him.) Besides, we don’t know for sure if he doesn’t watch the show, until he confirms it himself, as it’s just an assumption for now. (He might not of even of caught up with the Glimmer episodes, which may explain the hair style confusion. Some fans haven’t even watched the show sense before she was introduced.)
I’d say aside from the hair mistake, he does a good job regardless if he does watch it, or not.
I haven’t though in that, but that’s different, this artist (and writers) get paid for working on MLP, so he should watch the show to get right. But the same happened in the show too, there where/are a few new writers who don’t watch the show, and MA Larson complained about it (from when he was Story Editor, he said it was the minimum requisite to work on the show).
Andy and the others main artist said they were fans, know the characters and even read other artist comics. In the IDW book Art is Magic you have more info about it.

It’s actually possible it could be the editor’s fault giving him wrong references, or something, or not working closely enough with Jay, so it might not be entirely his fault. Also, does it really matter if he watches the show, or not? For all we know, Andy & other comic artists probably don’t either anymore. Hell, tons of people on this very site tell me they haven’t watched the show in years, and are just here for the fanart, or the lewd stuff.
Honestly, I didn’t even notice the hair, until people started complaining. It’s that minor a mistake to me.
@PonyPon
It’s a “I don’t wanna sit through another boring lesson, but I must” face. :P
Yes, but Starlight has her new mane since Season 6 Premiere, where she took her first friendship lesson. Here she already took lots of friendship lessons, so this one is placed after Season 6 finale or during Season 6, so there is not excuse from using her old mane-style. Even the cover and previous comics (FiM #46-47) shows her with the new mane-style.
This proves that Fosgitt doesn’t watch the show, he just put Starlight Glimmer in Google Images and draw her like that because there were more images from her old mane-style or because he tough it’ll look better, without proper research (AKA watching the show carefully)…
It’s called a “midquel”. Just because this was made and released after the season, doesn’t mean the story itself takes place around that time. And besides, the comics never sync up with the show’s current events. It took a while before they updated Twilight as an alicorn. So any comic that has unicorn Twilight is clearly set before she became an alicorn.
He doesn’t draw bad, but his style is not suited for FiM to me. It also helps to, you know, review your source material however tedious it is.
No, comics didn’t use her between both seasons. They started using her after season 6 ended, and she already appears with her new mane-style.
This is just Fosgitt doing lazy “research” in Google instead of watching the show for references…
I think this takes place between the end of season 5 and the beginning of season 6.
What is that expression on the last panel? That looks more like someone paused her mid-blink.
@Vree
Frankly, I forgive it, for how cute he makes her look.
Honestly, I didn’t even notice the difference.
Jay “do you even watch the show” Fosgitt strikes again.
