Oh there was this thing I forgot, you mentioned nagash new models and miniatures being inspired on kelthuzad why left me with doubts and I started to search on my files trying to find the right pic.

This one is from 4th edition that was 91 or 92 if I'm not mistaken, it is true the designs at the beginning (80s) were not as awesome as they are now, but they started to be awesome on the 90s. A reason I think is valid is that they couldnt afford to show many huge sized characters cause they would be forced to make them big on the miniatures.
