She’s totally racist, Celestia should turn her into a yellow and pink stain on the ground, right?
RascalPascal

@Eeveeinheat
I called her xenophobic as a joke due to her action, same with calling her an apostate. But the discussion is currentle about assuming sapiency.

@Pagan
How would she know that dragons, whose culture, not sapiency, is not Well know ? Probably by going to school. And spare me the insults.

How is walking up to someone and asking the person they’re with if “the animal is tame ?” normal in any world ? The ponies never referred to any other intelligent species as animals.
“Oh hello Jesus, is your pet negro tamed yet?”

Is this the joke you refer to? If so, I fail to see the humor. It’s neither accurate nor witty. All it sounds like is you reading too far into everything.

@RascalPascal
How would she know? Please explain your reasoning that she would know a DRAGON is sapient despite no one knowing anything about them. And what makes you think these towns ponies we know nothing about meet other species on a regular basis? Where are you getting these theories from?
RascalPascal

@Pagan
It’s not reasonable, there’s enough sapiens species in the show beside ponies that they should know more tackt with these matters. And even if we skip that she still asked if Spike, a species she knows is sapient, is tame. And why are you acting as if I’m making a big deal, I jokingly pointed out a xenophobic action, you guys started the discussion.

Spiders are not sapients. Dragons are.

We don’t know if she is xenophobic or not. She could be or she might not be. However, what she said doesn’t prove that either way.

But, in all honestly, the whole dialogue was certainly just a joke Pencils made about how silly ponies can be. Obviously sapient animal? Ask if he bites! Making fun of cliche HIE troupes, while also being funny itself. Don’t read so much into it.

You’re acting like she just called for his head on a platter when all she did was ask a question, a very reasonable one at that. If I had to sit next to a completely unknown species I would want to know if it would bite. Because again she would have no way of knowing. She didn’t insult them she just asked if it was safe you’re making mountains out of pebbles.
RascalPascal

@Exhumed Legume
Spiders are not sapients. Dragons are.
RascalPascal

@Eeveeinheat
I’m not arguing we’re not animals, but that approaching someone and asking if the animal is tame is xenophobic. I was going to say that all bipedal creatures we’ve seem up to this point in the show are sapient but then I remembered birds are still animals so my bad on that one.

Only most spiders catch and eat insects.
If you just assume a spider’s going to catch and eat insects, well, you’re clearly a bigot.

Also, what does humanoid have to do with anything? They’ve never even seen a human before, so the idea that humanoid=sapient wouldn’t even be a thing to them. The clothes is the only part that matters in your point.

The point isn’t if she thought he was sapient or not, the point is that humans are animals and, as such, her question is objectively correct.
RascalPascal

@Pagan
Everything in the scene implies he’s sapient. And they love in a world with plenty other species that look different than them so why would you go around asking such questions when you see him sitting at the table. I hardly think her fetish undoes what she said.
Pagan

Gay Viking
@RascalPascal
Four legged creatures are typically the sapient ones in the show there’s little to no bipedal creatures besides dragons and minotaurs of which we have only seen one, and if we go back to Dragon Quest twilight states they know little to nothing about dragons because they are too dangerous to just walk up to the only one who would really know dragons are sapient is Twi having raised Spike a normal pony would know nothing about them, so again you’re not making any sense.

smarter to assume the humanoid wearing clothes and eating at the table is not an animal

Again, humans are animals. Her phrasing is weird, but not wrong. She referred to Spike by his species, and not knowing the other animal’s species, she said animal. Asking if he’s tame is admittedly strange, but referring to him as an animal is objectively correct.

Also, what does humanoid have to do with anything? They’ve never even seen a human before, so the idea that humanoid=sapient wouldn’t even be a thing to them. The clothes is the only part that matters in your point.

@Exhumed Legume
I don’t know if you had to write it in such snarky way but:
a) even cows are sapient in Equestria so it would be smarter to assume the humanoid wearing clothes and eating at the table is not an animal
b) assuming a dragon needs to be tamed because “others” are rowdy is xenophobia

The only reason animal is considered an insult in our world is due to every single animal, other than humans, being non-sapient. They are dumb. Beasts, as seen in the eyes of almost every culture. But if every animal had the potential to be sapient, then your worldview would change. You would see an animal and think, “I wonder if it can talk or not” not “oh, that’s not a person”. They would most likely use the term beast for sentence, but non-sapient, animals.

Your implying she knew he was sapient, she had no way of possibly knowing that. When he asked why would he bite she quickly changed to lustful mode so your theory she’s somehow racist or something makes no sense.

How was she supposed to know Anon’s sapient?
No, this is nowhere near equivalent to a human asking another human if a third human is tamed; he’s a completely different species that hasn’t been seen in the world for millennia.
