On the surface, your comment sounds a little more like maybe “Rule #4” territory, rather than any kind of constructive advice for the artist. But you’re not a “I don’t know how to filter or avoid things I just don’t like” kind of person, so could you maybe expand on your thoughts in a way that might be more constructive for the artist?
@OneOverTwo
Yeah - especially in a franchise where the vast bulk of the characters in the show are only differentiated by their hair and color and their buttstamp, trying to go too far away from the original color or design sometimes takes the artist right out of the fandom, and they end up being criticized for “being too furry” or “too anthro” or “too insert word here”.
It’s a balancing act. Enough of a clone that people see what they expect to see, but not so much so that they get criticized for making another clone.
Based on responses I’ve gotten, the main reason they make these satyr kids look so reminiscent of their non-human parent seems to be that it is more readily apparent which character is their parent. Seems to make it easier to post just the picture without having to state too much context first.
Not like everywhere has tags like here to point it out to us.
Sometimes I try to make them look less “clone of the parent”, but not always. Once I got a Flutterkid mistaken for a Scootaloo one because of this.
That said, the mlp satyrs are kind of free form in regards to everything from characterization to appearance. (Though their variable aspects do tend to have more generally popular renditions.) So this character doesn’t always necessarily look like her mom.

Anon-ness seems to be recessive.
