I’ve been thinking basically the same thing except having it be Glimmer who does it because she realizes it’s very likely the Changelings have a way to counter Discord on hand.

I’ve been imagining Discord will suddenly suggest they recruit Ember and Gabby or Gilda in the first or second act of E26 just ‘cause it’d be more fitting to him if the team was six individuals as well to mirror the other group of six they’re off to rescue. It’d seem odd to suddenly shift to another location and go back to outside the hive in around five minutes of airtime, but I myself feel it’d be odder to have only these four go in, not six because of the aforementioned six individual team thing. lol

This party seems rather… unbalanced. And not in a good way. If there’s powerful magic that not even Discord can get past, you have a team of four magic users. No melee, no ranged, just magic users. At least the mane 6, up til Twilight became an alicorn, was completely balanced. 2 unicorns, 2 earth ponies, 2 pegasii.

This scene is actually quite interesting, and possibly sets up exactly how the Changelings could capture basically everyone. Discord outright says he attempted to teleport the group to Fluttershy, and obviously that didn’t happen. Anything powerful enough to interfere with Discord’s magic is something none of them will want to mess with.
