I don’t know… If anything Angel probably has -255 happiness stat.

(This is also making me think about the fact that my playthrough of White version 2 is a Brony and MLP theme with the names I chose for my trainer and pokemon)

Geez, Yorec. You’re either a real Slowpoke or you haven’t really played any game past Gen 1, since Happiness has been around since Gold and Silver. Then again, from a certain point of view, there was a prototype for the Happiness stat in Pokmeon Yellow, where the Pikachu would have cuter responses to you the more it liked you.
Anyway, SBF1 pretty much said it all. Aside from evolving and using Return, Happiness has minimal importance.

It didn’t just hurt him.
It outright owned him.
Then again Team Rocket did say Ash’s Pikachu is special.

@Yorec

It generally involves a number of things - some Pokemon, like Eevee or Riolu, evolve through happiness (very happy+day=Espeon or Lucario respectively). It also governs the base power of Return and Frustration (how much it likes you and how much it hates you, respectively). Other than that, there isn’t much else that it really has an effect on, save for the warm fuzzy feeling.

It gets increased by walking 255 steps, leveling up, using the vitamin items, and getting the Pokemon a haircut/massage/etc. It can be decreased by having the Pokemon faint repeatedly, or giving it bitter healing items. There’s also certain Pokeballs or hold items that can increase the friendship bonus you get from leveling up.

It’s actually rather intricate for a stat that’s not-often used.

Oh. I guess I never really used those moves or used any Pokemon that evolved with high happiness.

Whatever though, although I never see an actual stat listing so I guess it’s invisible. Which is kind of lame. I dislike invisible stats.

@Yorec: Frustration deals more damage with lower happiness, and Return does more damage with higher happiness.

Several pokemon evolve when their happiness stat is 220, which is close to the maximum of 250, most famously Togepi. Buneary is one of them.

It doesn’t affect to much. On a regular basis it’s just trivial, but some pokemon evolve when they have high happiness and there are two moves that have power based on happiness.

Tho it seems that it’s actually pretty hard to get your pokemon to be unhappy nowadays.
