Meh, after my Past is not today, 3 main character movies, and a hint of a Twilight-Human Twilight episode in show, I’m not really worried about them following through with Sunset. The fandom didn’t implode on itself when alternate Flash appeared in one of Cadence’s episodes, and Sunset is CRAZY popular. Unlike the first movie’s unambitious start, the ‘EG does not exist’ crowd has been reduced to a small bunch of impotent neckbeards by the end of Rainbow Rocks.
 
Besides, Laurent Faust always said that G4 was supposed to be a tribute reboot of G1, and non-Equestrian magic limits were mentioned in the Everfree Forest as early as S1E2. I was not really surprised when EG1 appeared, only how bad the premise and delivery was.
 
Plus its been established they can’t write well written same-themed premiers or finales in the episodes since after Chrysalis’ episode to save their lives. Let’s be realistic here; they don’t want to throw money down the toilet, so they’ll stick with what they know and improve. They summoned a GOD in Rainbow Rocks, they don’t want EG2 to completely eclipse their big budget movie. That would be embarrassing.

I don’t think Sunset will appear (at least not prominently) in the pony Pony 2017 since Hasbro will probably want to take the money from the “Pretends Equestria Girls series doesn’t exist crowd” (in addition to most everyone else) for it.

Blame Celestia’s tampering with the element of magic. The element of magic bearer was never going to become an alicorn naturally. Human Twilight is a lot more free spirited and kind then pony Twilight, and way more touch in reality despite being socially awkward then Pony Twilight, but she’s saddled with her pony version’s baggage, which is in turn Celestia ask for this.
 
I guarenteen you Midnight Sparkle wouldn’t be nearly as infectious if the element of magic’s destiny wasn’t filled with alicorn magic.
 
The end of the last movie, it hinted that Sunset and Human Twilight were going to be the next Celestia and Luna respectively in a different way. Human Twilight has effectively become Luna’s successor when it comes with potent and dark powers and alicornship. She’s potentially way more powerful then Pony Twilight, although she needs a lot of training.
 
The only reason that Sunset hasn’t grown wings I believe is ego, Sunset is Celestia’s true successor but they haven’t reconciled yet. I can only imagine what will happen in the 2017 movie, considering all the movies thus far have had Sunset.

I kind of agree, but I would’ve settled for them just not appearing on lower-level-friendship-skills Twilight.

Just saying, those wings should’ve popped up on Sunset.

I’m really annoyed that human Twilight got wings.
 
I feel like she hasn’t earned them yet.
 
(They should’ve made her wings out of energy, that’d make sense…)
