"Uncanny valley" gets misused a lot.


 
It doesn't just mean "creepy", it's to describe the gap that exists when something approaches being human-like, getting more and more realistic, until it hits a certain spot where it's incredibly close to being human, but it's not quite, and it sets off a feeling of disgust in us. Our brains know "something isn't quite right." Then after this gap, it can continue on to being even more realistic, and we're fine with it.


 
It's commonly applied to human-like robots. It does _*not_* mean images drawn with levels of detail that takes them into creepy territory. NAn image *can* have the uncanny valley effect, but morst dpeople misuse it to mean "creepy."
