A 'switch' in BDSM terms is someone who enjoys both sides of the BDSM relationship, i.e. they enjoy being the 'dominant' (Dom/Master/Mistress) or the submissive (the slave/pet/sub) and can play both roles as necessary.


 
There are many different kinds of subs as there are many different kinds of subs. There are passive subs, really devoted subs, bratty subs, rebellious subs, etc. 'Switch' subs (i.e. a Switch playing the sub role) are interesting in that they tend to be more controlling of the scene and their dom and often (paradoxically) dictates the flow of the scene.
