This is one of my favorite depictions of Sunset Shimmer that I've ever seen. She's alone, but still has friends, is confident, but also a little withdrawn. Still connected to the portal that brought her to where she is, she's learned the ways of the natives, and is doing what she can to fit it.
The tones of her hair and shoes compliment the tone of her skin, and with the very specific blue of her jeans they make a very soothing blend of warm and cool colors. Everything is complimentary without being stuck in a single color space.
Great lines, simple yet specific outfit, and such good work on the folds in her clothes - the outlines are solid and dark, but the inking job has really subtle points.
Looks digital, but feels traditional, with an almost manga approach to some of the strokes, while at the same time looking like it could have come straight out of a high end homage to Archie comics.
The background is simple and fades from the viewer's focus, and the foreground draws the viewer's eyes straight to Sunset's smiling face.
This is simply one of the best compositions on the site, and the complexity of the story this drawing is telling I think explains much of the tagwar that's been going on.
By itself, in one panel, it is a complete story, with history and time - the past and the future of this character - in a single snapshot.
I wish I had a button higher than "Favorite" for it.
