I’m not sure why you thought I was implying Equestia has high schools. Being Celestia’s personal apprentice is a far bigger and longer commitment then getting a basic education.

Twilight proved that literally in episode 1 by still being Celestia’s apprentice LONG after childhood.

The seeming absence of high schools in Equestia for normal folk that are not Celestia’s personal apprentices may seem odd at first glance to us, but then again, they live in a society where its expected for ponies to get their cutie marks before their teenage years at least, so having only basic schooling makes more sense at second glance.

@Enigmanigmatic
One, why did you wait 14 days to reply?

Two, I never said that Equestria had a high school. I said Sunset was Celestia’s apprentice and at a teenage age at least old enough so that she could rebel, find forbidden knowledge, access the forbidden mirror and use it to travel to the human world….and be old enough so that her rebellion would be at least partially or mostly be her own fault.

If Celestia let someone Twilight’s age at the time, basically a pre-schooler, go darkside and run away to an alternate realm of reality, thats not only absolutely ridiculous, but it means that Celestia, Sunset’s master and practically her guardian and mother figure, lost a preschooler to an alternate plane of reality, making Celestia literally the worst magic master and guardian ever, which admittedly isn’t totally out of character for Celestia, but its still far too ridiculous even for her, and destroys any narrative of Sunset needing to get Celestia’s forgiveness, cause what the hell does a pre-schooler know about right and wrong?

AFTER Sunset left, after a certain period of time, Celestia took Twilight as an apprentice, and Twilight was only a little, little kid when that happened.

The number of Sunset’s pictures corresponding with seasonal proms seem to fit pretty well with the idea of 30 moons passing on Earth. On the other hand, way, way, WAY more time passed between everyone getting their cutie marks and the beginning of MLP, let alone when Sunset finally returned to Equestria to steal the crown. WAY more then 2.5 years.

We know from the school portraits that Sunset was at least in the human world as a young teen, and her apartment shows she’s pretty self sufficient, but any younger then a young teen, even for a prodigy, would be beyond unbelievable.

Consider the concept of EG1, which was pretty messy scriptwise but ultimately completely canon. At the end of the day, Twilight had to be the same age as her nemesis of the movie, who was Celestia’s original apprentice who went darkside and went to the human world BEFORE twilight was even made an apprentice as a very small child. From the getgo, the idea that they had to be similar age is impossible without some often-used Narnia explanations of time passing differently between dimensions. If a pre-schooler of Twilight’s age ran through a portal, that would just end with Celestia grabbing her, bringing her back, and giving her a spanking. If a 14 or 15 year old did that, then it turns more into a family falling out. And, yeah, Celestia has had plenty of experiences with those. No matter how it went down, Celestia quit her adult younger sister for 1000 years.

And yes, the Dazzlings were sent into the human world 1000 years ago in Equestrian time. We don’t know when they arrived calender wise in the human world.

@CronoM
Alternately Equestria just doesn’t have high school. But you know, that’s obviously too complex of an idea for you to wrap your head around. It is said that she was an apprentice before Twilight was taken on. It doesn’t say how long before, it just says before. She could just as easily be Twilight’s age. But you go ahead and shove your head in the ground. Also, it’s stated that the Dazzlings were sent to Earth 1000 years ago. So obviously they arrived in the early 1010’s.

@Enigmanigmatic
Keep in mind that the entire premise for EG1 was to have Twilight, Celestia’s younger apprentice, be the same age somehow in the human world as Celestia’s elder apprentice, in high school without any hand holding from writers for explanations on the ‘how’.

We KNOW that such a thing is impossible in linear storytelling, but different dimensions having time flow differently has been done for decades. To avoid the sci-fi, and focus on Sunset and Twilight being high school age, they basically just had to wing it. And any repercussions of those normally impossible circumstances that caused it to happen, we have to assume are canon.
CronoM

It’s not actually that absurd to think about..

…and then you list things that make absolutely no sense at all. What was the point of saying they weren’t absurd?

30 moons passing sounds correct from Sunset’s experiance from early high school to the first movie time-wise IN THE HUMAN WORLD, but WAY more then 2.5 years passed since Twilight was a little child being chosen by Celestia to young adulthood at the start of the series AND going onto past the S3 finale.

Heck if the requirement was 30 moons passing but time moves faster in Equestria, lets say 4x faster for example, then it would make no sense for anyone to use the portal in Equestia with the intention of moving back and forth as long as one side isn’t open the other way as well.

In other words while 30 moons passed in the human world, 120 moons passed in Equestia, making the portal usable to move freely back and forth when both were occuring during EG1.

From Sunset’s perspective, she was in the human world for 30 months. From Equestia’s perspective, however, all of the Mane 6 were still little kids when Twilight took her exam and Dash did the Rainboom, and Celestia outright told their YOUNG ADULT SELVES that Sunset left before all that happened.

Back on your other points, Twilight was barely out of magic kindergarten when Celestia chose Twilight as a replacement apprentice.

“In could be that Twilight and Sunset were in the same class-”

HOW? Do you understand how time works? For Sunset to be Celestia’s apprentice for years before she went Darkside and left to the human world leading to Celestia choosing Twilight after, yet also somehow Twilight and Sunset being the same class, then that would mean that Sunset went darkside and left when she was barely out of her toddler years. Just, no.

….

Sorry if lost my patience.

Like I said before, can we shelve any absurd ideas that time passed the same in two entirely different dimensions when all evidence points to Sunset being in the human world for a far briefer time? The Mane 6 did not grow from tiny kids to young adults within 2.5 years, and Sunset certainly wasn’t in the same class age as young Twilight.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, when do you think the Dazzlings arrived on Earth? The 1700s? Or maybe somehow sooner?
Enigmanigmatic

@CronoM
I actually think the time flow is identical, since “30 moons” is just two and a half years. It’s not that unreasonably long. And it could be that Twilight and Sunset were in the same class but Celestia was training Sunset before she was Twilight. It’s not actually that absurd to think about.
CronoM

@Enigmanigmatic
How does that factor in the whole Narnia aspect of the portal before it was opened permanently? Y’know, what was a mere 2 or 3 years for Sunset, time passed so rapidly in Equestria that Celestia coped, took Twilight as a student as a mere child, and raised her into teenage/semi-adulthood.

(And we basically have to negate any idea that Sunset was somehow the same age or younger then Twilight when she left Equestia for a NUMBER of reasons, one of which being Celestia lost a little child under her care while she was having a temper tantrum)

I can definitely expect that Dazzlings dont age cause even in the human world they absorb some of the soul energy from people’s conflict, but I doubt they are a thousand.

@Whoknows
Considering that she went through the trouble of becoming Prom Queen (or whatever it was) over and over in the human world before going after the crown, even though it did nothing whatsoever to aid her in her domination of Equestria/revenge against Celestia, yes, she probably does. Silly Sunny.

So wait… she found out her “friend” was the owner of a strip club, had sex with her on a school night and thinks that the sexy strip club owner needs to go to class? Sunny’s got odd priorities.
