I agree. If Shining found out, he’d own doubts. Trust must be earn with action instead of deed.

This picture is adorable for sure, but as father I can’t overlook the fact that Twilight has Flurry in a cot with an unswaddled blanket and a pillow! It doesn’t take much or long for a baby to suffocate his/herself. Honestly this is unsurprising given that Twilight took her young niece to a hospital with sick and potentially contagious foals without thought for Flurry’s wellbeing.
 
I wouldn’t be surprised if Shining would harbor grave doubts about having his daughter stay alone with Twilight after that incident because I certainly would if either one of my siblings pulled something like that with my son.
