I think its partially that, and partially that she doesn’t know how. She is not very introspective at all, and the one time she finally did get introspective about her life direction was in IDW #17 and #19. Like it or hate it, the Twilight from that arc is leagues above our Twilight in terms of character development, no contest. Show Twilight was able to get a little introspective about her morality and priorities in Amending Fences, but that’s about it.

There is a flaw in that statement. Unlike the other 5 in Equestria, Twilight does not live an ‘Adult’ life by any stretch of the imagination. She might as well be the same age as her alternate, cause there’s no reason to believe she isn’t. She’s never had to work a day in her life and even before she was declared a princess and was given more homework by the magic table, her business in Ponyville was ‘an assignment to learn about friendship’. Even she stated her responsibilities were her homework in Lesson Zero.
 
Nor is she prepared for most of the crap sent her way, most of the time she is given an assignment exclusively for her, she either collapses from the pressure only to have someone else save her bacon(Sunset with the Sirens, Pinkie with the Yaks) or she prioritizes her assignment over lives and less risky solutions until the very, very last second (like with Sombra).
 
Someone hyper dependent is not an adult or mentally prepared, and the show reminds us constantly of that and how her mental weakness is something Celestia nurtured instead of aided. Only in the most recent episodes, like with Twilight acting like a child when wanting to show off Starlight and coming up with a ton of excuses, has it shown Celestia finally gotten sick of Twilight not able to function without her praise and approval.
 
In short, Celestia wanted to create a perfect apprentice princess through dependency and micro managing her growth, but ended up creating an apprentice that wants to be micro-managed and dependent forever. That’s Twilight’s entire character arc so far summed up in one sentence (with rare deviations like Amending Fences.)
 
And, not to state the completely obvious elephant in the room, but Celestia in both cases is giving Twilight responsibility that would be completely pointless and too risky for herself alone to bear, yet she does it anyway cause(as far as anyone can rationalize an answer yet the show is too afraid to givee) Celestia is only interested in Twilight’s growth. Its canon shown that her interest in Pinkie doing Twilight’s princess of friendship duties for her with the Yaks is not in Celestia’s interest at all.

That might have been true in EG1 when they had no powers, but by EG3 Principal Celestia was acting MORE mature then Princess Celesita and not restraining the other 5 from doing what they do best. Rainbow Dash wants to save lives using magic during a race? Principal Celestia will back her play and cover things up. She and VP Luna were only asking Sunset to look into the portal problem cause she is the only one from Equestria, while giving all 6 of them full reign to do what they do best. In Equestria, all Mane 6 are established seasoned adventurers, there’s no reason to keep them in the dark, yet she does constantly.

yet another reason I hate the Equestria girls “the mane six are teenagers” logic; the mane six in the show seem to be fully grown adults in universe with the responsibilities they have.

There is a difference. In the cartoon Twilight is an adult and has already been prepared to have crap tossed at her lap. It makes sense for Celestia to drop things on Twilight. Even though the cartoon has never acknowledged that Celestia ever did that on purpose. It’s just how the cartoon is structured to have Twilight (and the others) as the main characters in the episodes and gives the audience the possibility of coming up with this excuse to why Celestia never really does anything.

To be fair, that’s the show’s exact theme EVERY SINGLE TIME Celestia comes around and dumps something on Twilight, putting it all on Twilight and making it hell for everyone else involved, just for Celestia to arrive say how everything turned out perfectly in the end.
 
Considering this is the past and not the future in the timeline, we kinda expect Celestia to pull this shit more often then not. Can’t say the comic isn’t reflecting the show.

I feel bad for this comic. Even if it screwed Celestia hard, it could’ve ended better if it hadn’t been been hell all the time to suddenly turn around and go “everything is fine now”.

I don’t know why, but I always thought that Spike lived with Twilight from the beginning. That was before people started drawing all these Celestia + Spike images, which just didn’t appeal to me. Yet, now the first headcanon seems to be true and I’m happy like a cruel person!
