Not likely. There is no evidence of such a thing happening, especially since it was revealeds at the toy fair that season 6 would tie in with the movie. Why does no one here do any research?

Most tv shows that don’t use flash or 3d. Spongebob, gravity falls, star vs the forces of evil, and rick and morty all use it (in different ways I might add). It’s pretty much the industry standard.
@EyeGuy
Yeah, pretty much. Doing a 3D animated film based on a 2D animated series is different from doing a wholly original 3D animated film. Wasn’t last years SpongeBob mostly 2D? I know there were the 3D parts that were on every poster for the movie, but wasn’t it 2D aside from that?
@EyeGuy
Um, have you never heard of animation lead time? The scripts for an episode are written long before the episodes are produced. All of season 6 had been written before season 5 was over, so I’d assume they would have written the movie after that.
My big concern for the film is that it’ll be written at the same time as the series, so it won’t be able to follow the series and it’ll be filled with continuity errors.

I just want to know what the animation is gonna be like. Hopefully it stays 2D like the show and doesn’t switch to 3D CGI like 98% of kids movies these days.
