If Friends Forever 36 was actually canon to the show, I don’t think Soarin’ actually hates his job. Hell, even Rainbow Falls shows this.

Yeah, I guess “Would you?” was probably a bad way to phrase it. And yes, most people hate their jobs, but things tend to be different for the kind of person other people buy tickets for (or so I’ve heard; I’m not special, so I wouldn’t have a way to verify).

I say she has a possibility of becoming attracted to him. Whether it was his perseverance against his fears to make something of himself, or maybe he’ll become quite a bit less obnoxious in his approach once he gets a bit older.

I can’t imagine why anyone would ship Fluttercord, but it’s the number 1 Fluttershy ship of the fandom. I like Zephyr and Rainbow Dash together. You might hate it, but I still like it.

He’s her best friend’s brother, so even if she doesn’t like him on a personal level, she’s willing to suck it up and help out for Fluttershy’s sake. That said, it’s pretty clear she has no patience for his shenanigans (“I am gonna give you a job so simple and straightforward, not even you can weasel your way out of it! And the second you try, I’m gonna zap you with a storm cloud! Got it?!”), and the obnoxious flirting accounts for a disproportionate amount of the interaction between them. With these things in mind, the notion that he appeals to her on some level is just puzzling to me.

I known (and in fact, acknowledged) that an opinion can’t be right or wrong. But for the life of me I can’t imagine the reason someone would hold such an opinion, and your attempt at explanation only made things even less clear.

We have no idea how passionate Soarin is about flying. He’s a Wonderbolt and Rainbow idolized them, we know that, but that’s about it.

You never know. Maybe they have a romantic history. And as for an opinion being wrong, there is no such thing as a wrong opinion. There IS no right or wrong in opinions, because an opinion is just whether someone likes something or not.

She doesn’t like him being screwball, like most teenagers. I feel once he gains some responsibility, he’ll become a lot more attractive to him. XD

Yeah, I can see them taking long romantic flights, just gliding out over the ocean, and swooping and circling and doing barrel rolls around each other for the sheer joy of it.

Zephyr’s a work in progress, but he’s got a long way to go, and Dash has already made it clear (to the audience, if not to Zephyr himself) that she’s not interested. And I just have a hard time ignoring the part where she clearly doesn’t like him.

He’s worked on himself, and has gotten back to school to become a hair therapist. He’s at least working on himself and not letting his fears or insecurities get to him. I imagine he finds Dash attractive not only because she’s a pretty mare, but because of her drive and confidence. She’s something that Zephyr can aspire to be.
 
Soarin’s not a bad guy, but we know literally nothing about him other than, like Starswirl said, liking pie and being a goofball.

They’re both braggarts who hide insecurities behind boasting, and they both hate the idea of failing. If Rainbow ever did have a crush one somepony, she would probably act like Zephyr does, as well. Soarin, on the other hoof, is a goofball who likes pie. Not much in common, really.

…They have a history of him annoying the yay out of her, I have no idea what you think they have in common (I’d have to say she has more in common with Soarin’, tbh), and Zephyr being “terrific” is one of those things where I feel like a subjective opinion borders on managing to be actually wrong.
