The “Friends Forever” series oddly reminds me of “Batman Brave and the Bold” with it’s neat team-up gimmick. Rarity & Maud should be a good team.

I don’t consider the comics to be completely canon either. There are a few things I consider to be canon, but that’s just me trying to figure out how things work.
It’s a fool’s errand, though. Both the show and comic function on “convenience logic”.
As it should be! It’s without a doubt a rock and not a gem. I don’t really consider the comics to be canon but two episodes can’t get it wrong.
