Yeah, that’s a problem this fandom has.
Honestly, I’m just picking nits for fun. It is a rather remarkable inconsistency, though.
It’s probably put over a frame.
It’s a little overthinking to say she would have pulled it up with the ropes instead.
In the end, both ways would have worked and since she wanted to contribute something, she used her bungee jumping skills to do it.
Just because it can be pulled up by the ropes doesn’t mean she has to.
Except if it were cloth it wouldn’t have remained rigid while she lifted it. She also probably wouldn’t have grabbed it from the bottom; in fact they would have just pulled it up by the ropes it’s attached to. (Also, the board in the external shot has a discernible thickness that the cloth in the close-up lacks.)
Perspective and distance. You can’t see the drapes from the distance, making it look solid.
