What the heck.

  1. Pony crap, pony crap everywhere on the internet
  2. Ignores it initially.
  3. Realizing that being open minded led to me enjoying my favorite fictional things as of then and now (Half Life), I gave it a shot.
  4. Watched first 4 episodes. General reaction: meh
  5. Wait some time later, and goes on TV Tropes. I find out more about the show regarding Spike and Rarity’s relationship and became intrigued.
  6. Find myself watching more episodes that I happened to like after SomE
  7. Use TV Tropes links of pictures from Ponibooru
  8. Got interested in site members and big ass collection of pony pics. Becomes anon then full member near July 2012.
  9. Moves to Derpibooru and becomes more involved due to fun adventure threads

And there you go, in case anyone cares.

Semi-short version: In late 2010 I saw a listing for MLP:FIM on tv. I was a little familiar with previous gens. I saw that it was flash-based and watched it see what a cheap cash-in it would be.
Wrong. Loved it.
Got hooked after watching the two back to back episodes, watched the rest online from there, found the fandom, then joined ponibooru in early 2011.

What started as pure cynicism became one of the best things in my life and I’ve seen things in a different light ever since.

I was talking about Higurashi and found a link to cupcakes. I like reading bad fanfics no matter what the subject, so I checked it out. Then I saw a comment along the lines of “this reminds me of Party of One” so I checked that out. The rest is history.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Was bored.
Somebody informed to people about season 2 starting.
Gave it a shot.
Couldn’t stand it.
Two days later even more bored.
Gave another shot.
Watched entire season 1.
Boom.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

>browsing 4chan, usually on /vp/, /a/, /fit/, and /sci/
>go on /co/, which I almost never do
>see pony thread
>see that it’s popular
>hey, if 4chan likes it…
>look up first two episodes on youtube
>verdict: 5/10, had some good moments, but mostly cliche and predictable, nothing special
>go back to other hobbies
>two weeks later, watch other episodes out of boredom, starting with Ticket Master
>finally got into show after Applebuck Season and Dragonshy.
>be part of the silent majority, watching episodes, look at art on Ponibooru, reading fanfics
So aside from not being immediately sucked in and being around since the 4chan days, my story isn’t anything special.

Take this despair!
I was bored so I decided to watch the first episode after hearing all the things about it on the escapist. The rest is history.

^ugh I meant G2 & G3.

Oh and my first “real episode” viewed was Suited for Success. I will always smile during the famous breakdown and little “exile” speech.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

The first time I heard of the new Pony reimagining I immediately latched on the usual tag of “girly gunk” that was so prevalent with G2 & G4 (still have fond memories over how well written G1 was at times).

Then a friend who was into D&D showed me both the PMV of Dead Alewives plus a “fic” of D&D rules to have when playing with the mane six.

That got my attention so I just typed the name of the show and the first thing that I saw was the Best of Pinkie Pie vid. I throughly enjoyed it and laughed a good while over how well timed and written the jokes and especially she was, so I decided to give the show a chance and began watching all the episodes from the beginning. And now, here I am.

Sure, this sounds like a stupid self-help pamphlet, but FiM really taught me to be a better person and actually made me smile more. It was fun, well-written, and definitely no longer bound by the “little girls only” stereotype. It was G1 all over again.

I don’t regret becoming part of the herd and I never will.

I became a Brony in August of 2011 when I investigated the ponies I kept seeing in my travels through the internet. By the second episode I was hooked and I spread out from there. Starting to watch the show with an open mind was the best decision I have ever made.

Grossly simplified: saw pony memes on 4chan. Wondered what it was about. Watched season 1 a few days after it had ended. The rest you know.
HamburgerTime

I got into the herd when my adopted sister (I live with her family) saw lots of pony memes on Reddit and started watching the show in the same room as me and her boyfriend (my best friend) while we tried to sleep. I remember the first episode I saw was ‘Secret to my Execess’, the one where Spike grows huge because of his greed. Of course I was annoyed at first when I thought she was putting on something I equated to Barney. But then I actually watched it. It struck a chord in me because of Spike’s seemingly hopeless crush on Rarity, something I was all too familiar with. After that I was totally cool with her putting the show on, and I even eventually started suggesting it. At some point she mentioned the Brony thing, and I felt better about liking this supposedly little girl’s show. I started looking up memes about the show, and that launched me into the fandom even further. I didn’t want to consider myself a Brony at first because I have serious reservations against labeling myself anything. But I eventually realized that I fit the defintion of a brony perfectly, plus I loved thier message of love and Tolerance. That was in February. I gave in by March, and the rest is rock n’ roll history.

Heard memes. Watched first episode. Fluttershy introduced herself with an inaudible squeak. I was the demons.
