Yeah... Facebook sucks... they optimize the image compression for quick viewing of photos that friends upload
So... it's not very high quality
What's funny is if you upload an image under a mb to a page then it'll keep it a PNG, but if it's in jpeg format then no matter the file size it automatically converts to a 70 quality jpeg
You can use an online compressor to keep files in PNG format but reduce the file size so you can get it under a mb
I used one and it was the EXACT same as a 95 quality jpeg, but it kept it in PNG format
Of course any image you upload to your profile is going to be jpeged.. it's only images uploaded to a page that get to stay as PNGs as long as they are under a mb
