“Long ago, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna ruled Equestria. The former raised the sun and the latter the moon. Overtime, Luna became more popular and respected but that clouded Celestia’s judgement. One fateful night, the Day Princess had enough and ultimately transformed into the wicked mare of fire, Daybreaker. She would ensure that day will last permanently but Luna wanted balance. The sisters battled until the younger sister used the so-called Elements of Harmony to banish Daybreaker to the moon for 1000 years. During the battle, however, Luna’s eye was incinerated by one of the flaming alicon’s fireballs, forcing her to wear an eyepatch for life. The Night Princess, learning from the elements themselves that Celestia will return and be saved, then heard rumors about the Flim Flam brothers’ rise to power and their thirst for war. Luna needed a worthy pony to stop them. She then approached a yellow teenage pegasus named Fluttershy (soon-to-be Captain Equestria) and thus the fate of Ponyville and the rest of Equestria had changed forever.”
