But in the context of cutie marks, this advice is very good.
 
I would say, “standard advice”, not a “good advice”. It’s one of those things that are technically true, but not saying much, and somewhat impersonal.

Magical Inkwell - Wrote MLP fanfiction consisting of at least around 1.5k words, and has a verified link to the platform of their choice

This is horrible advice for something with both anxiety and depression. I’ve learned that if I just wait for inspiration it’ll only come a few times a year, at most. So, don’t force things, unless you have crippling depression where otherwise you would never get anything done. Ever.  
But in the context of cutie marks, this advice is very good.

Ironically, they wouldn’t have gotten their Cutie Marks if they weren’t obsessed with them in the first place. It wasn’t fruitless, it gave them valuable experience.
