It’s not. Not only is there only one alternate world involved but they don’t encounter alternate versions of characters from Equestria. Part way through the story, the main villain makes modified clones of the Mane Six and these are the ones seen on the art.

Whenever I saw this fic, I literally thought it was a brony take on the DC Comic event “CRISIS on Infinite Earths” or the later comic events similar to it like “Infinite CRISIS” or “Final CRISIS”.
