Starlight Glimmer is basically a dictator pony… She will take a part of you which is both a part of your body and a large part of your identity (namely, the cutie mark) and force you into creepy, mediocre conformity. She’s a liar. She’s a hypocrite because she didn’t take her own mark. She won’t play by her own rules. As for her redemption, I think it was surprisingly poorly handled. They made it seem like she really thought cutie marks were evil, but then why did she keep hers? The backstory doesn’t match what we see of her in her debut. She’s also much more realistic than the other villains. Some person like her could rise to power and try the same thing, and you can’t say that about the other MLP baddies. It makes her very eerie and threatening.

Glimmer’s first crime was being a cult leader; this makes her come across as much more of a “real” villain than a chaos god or some monster draining the life-force out of people, which in turn decreases sympathy. People can relate a little too well to cults and their destructive effects… Additionally, her backstory is considered to be incredibly weak by many, also decreasing sympathy. These two things are the primary reasons as to why Glimmer has the detractors that she does.
Anyway, Celestia got fat…

I’ll admit whoever wrote Glimmers backstory should be flogged, we have to remember, that its the ignorant 6yo girls who are the target here, and I gather they dont tend to ask the really hard questions. But, at that its hardly an excuse for such poor writing.

I’ve since spent the interveing time just imaging her as a powerful Grand Moff in the Equestrian Empire.

Funko has a line called POP, which are collectable vinyl figures with large heads and beady eyes and has lines for different pop culture shows and movies including My Little Pony. They sell them at Hot Topic and many other retail stores.

I want the Celestia, and Glimer versions soo bad. I get Glimer into some Imperil Dress Grays, and a nice black hoody cape for ’Cele, maybe a glowy red lasersword too.

I really need to get both a Cadance and Shining Armor, because I don’t want either of them to face the world alone.
