Yes I know that doesn’t leave a lot of room for interpretation however it makes people would use human gun models when we don’t really know what a horse gun would look like, there are good concept arts but nothing solid has been established.

The closest to a “firearm” we’ve seen is a crossbow and it looked just like a regular one we would use.

They have cannons and cannonballs, and Pinkie’s party-optimized cannon is horse-portable. They have guns anytime they want them, they just don’t really need them in a world where the entire population has personal magic.

There has been a collapse able shotgun made in the 1800’s.
The concept isn’t impossible there would have to be guides to make sure the barrel is aligned and some reinforcement to prevent splitting.

@Bronies & Mash
Every AR-15 and most pump shotguns have easily-removable barrels, and there are dozens of models of semiauto and bolt action rifles that come in takedown versions where the barrel unscrews or unlatches from the action.
Bronies & Mash

Is it particularly safe for a rifle to have a collapsible barrel like that? I would think that the structural integrity of the barrel to be challenged when you fire it, and it would explode from the pressure or something.

@OneAmongOthers
Different guns have different properties,
Plus (forgive me I don’t play the FO series) I believe this is one of the more popular guns? (correct me if I’m wrong).

Let’s also remind ourselves that we’re combining universes here whereby compromises need to be made.
This being me main reason why things like the mechanical arm is needed.
OneAmongOthers

Why use a firearm designed for a human? Last time I checked Equestrians were none of the sort. Nice animation, but for all practicality sakes it’s just unnecessary. A bullpup rifle would be more suitable for a pony seeing as how you still maintain a full length barrel in a compact package.

@Perteks
A traditional butt as we know wouldn’t exist, a butt in the form that would be against the chest would make more sense.
Though an arm/ holster would’ve still be needed.

This is some real stupid idea, what aboyt recoil, if recoil is on that thing then why gun have butt, aiming would be hard, how do you even fire it xD

@Jim Prower
I like the idea of a flexible trigger.

As far as the joints having a system like I suggestion could do just as well and use less specialized parts reducing manufacturing time, cost and resources.

@crzygoth
as far as the trigger goes, I might suggest something semi-flexible, like a clutch/choke cable in a fairly-stiff casing. You could use a harness-type bit trigger and get away with it. The main issue is aiming the thing, since it’d have to follow your head. I assume that’s what the ball joints are supposedly for.

…I don’t mind the way it unfolds like a reverse Burgess, though.

Assuming the mechanical arm is supposed to be something that can be used on all guns I find a couple of issues with it’s design.

1)The pivot point from the center of the rifle is too great.

This would cause a much greater recoil.

Since the trigger is in the ponies mouth expect missing teeth.

(In order to fix this the arm should hold the rifle where a traditional trigger would be and the grip.
To fix the potential loss of teeth a solution may be to have the gun fire by way of a chin or
forehead trigger.)

2) The arm itself seems to have only ball joints which athletically looks alright practically isn’t
necessary.

(My suggestion would be to have 3 joints like an arm but with 1 modification.
The arm should me 1 ball joint connected to the back-strap and 2 double action hinges.
This would be like having 2 wrists, 1 situated where an elbow would be.
This would enable to use weapons that are meant for left and right sided use.
Not to mention duel action hinges would be easier to make/ replace.)

3) The connection to the harness is only 1 point or so it seems.
Obviously it wouldn’t be very stable.

(The attachment should be centered and have a larger surface area connected to the harness)

So uh…why a Gewehr 43? Isn’t it kinda old and obsolete by Fallout Equestria standards?
Background Pony #0C56
The shape seems awfully impractical considering the pony anatomy.
The butt is entirely unnecessary and when extended the center of gravity would be shifted so far forward it’d be hard not to tip over.
