@Mrmildock
Glad it’s not just me. It has a very different tone to the previous movies and some parts of the story are ludicrous. For example, we’re supposed to accept that Sci-Twi made a magical device out of nowhere just because she’s clever?!
And The Shadowbolts were so underused, especially after all the promoting they were given before the film came out.
I like some of the songs and characters and it’s still worth a watch but I just found Friendship Games to be a complete disappointment.
Same here. I still think it’s a decent film at the very least, but it’s my least favorite of the three for how rushed and just how empty the film was. I felt very cheated from the Shadowbolts (especially Lemon Zest who I think got the least screen time of the 5 but I can’t remember), especially when you read their bios Hasbro gave them.
I don’t know. Honestly, speaking as an EqG fan, the movie is kinda forgettable to me. It just feels all weird and unnatural to me.
They actually explain that. Twi says to Flutters that Crystal Prep doesn’t celebrate anything they didn’t do themselves. They’re focused on securing their own legacies and victories. Their only concern with others is that they don’t drag them down.
Weirdly, i kinda liked the more subtle characterization of the Shadowbolt 5. Like I definitely got a handle on Sour Sweet, Sugarcoat, Lemon and Zap from their brief moments and general background behaviour. It provided just enough for me to look forward to what the fandom would make of them.
For me, it’s mostly the unnatural reactions towards several things. Like that scene where Sci-Twi solved the math problem correctly and everyone from CPA congratulated her in a deadpan way. Would you react like that if your friend made your school succeeded, even if they’re a rather unpopular kid?
Heck, the website description gives more info than what we saw in the movie, and most of it, since it wasn’t shown, is just informed traits. Lemon Zest is apparently a bit of drill sergeant? Sure as heck wasn’t shown in the movie other than MAYBE one scene, and that was stretching it.
Exactly.
Yeah, they should have been longer so we could get more character development.
Lol, I won’t, don’t worry. It sounds worse than terrible.
But they could’ve been better IMO.
Don’t watch the Jem movie. It’s a betrayal towards the original cartoon series. You’re better off watching the original cartoon series instead of that waste of talent and time which takes the Jem name and taints it.
I’ve never seen any of those but atleast they didn’t mess up with the Equestria Girls movies. They’re all above good.
Yeah, but keep in mind that this is Hasbro we’re talking about.
The same Hasbro that approved the Transformers movies, the G.I. Joe movies, the Battleship movie, and the Jem movie.
I don’t watch all of them (except for the first, second, and third Transformers movies, which I actually have no problem with), but from what I’ve heard, most if not all of them are bad. Like, very bad.
Definitely. Lemon Zest only got two lines! I was expecting a lot from them after all the promotiomal material and dolls.
Though the entire Shadowbolts (other than Sci-Twi) could have slightly more characterization.
Very true, anyway I love Sour Sweet.
One of my friends, who is a music critic, said in his review of an album, “This may not be the most original musical album I’ve ever heard, but it’s enjoyable, and that’s what matters”.
Design crew member: Sonata Dusk hairdo with Adagio Dazzle’s personality over here! Original?
Hasbro: Original.
Makes me think if she’s just Adagio Dazzle reincarnated as a CPA student.
It reminds me of this one:
In some ways, she reminds me a lot of Adagio. :)
In-universe, it’s true, for she is the big bad.
Out-universe, the overpaid but inept writing team
@Background Pony #66A4
Obviously Cinch. She had to have gotten all that screen time from somewhere.
