Thank you. Yes I totally agree with you.

Don’t put so much emphasis on what other artists are doing. You should focus on you and what you’re capable of. If anything, let other artist’s works inspire you to be at your best. If you worry about “catching up” then you’ll just bury yourself into a hole that you may not be able to get out of. Drawing and art in general takes time and dedication. Just imagine the artist you want to be a year from now and stick to that goal. Take it day by day, week by week, month by month. It’s a gradual process but every line and every sketch adds up and sooner or later you’ll make a piece that will make yourself go, “Wow. I did that.” But you don’t stop. You keep going. Keep pushing the envelope. Make every sketch better than the last.

Just keep going, and try to make each picture a bit better than your last. Try new things out.

You know, the idea behind this is pretty good. Tempted to do my own version of this, using your own picture as a starting point, if that’s okay?
 
My main reason for following some newer artists (yourself, Blazingdazzlingdusk and Mrmildock at the moment) was because my own ideas were getting stale. Needed some new ideas. Thanks to the three of you I’ve got some more inspiration.

Front legs are too thin here, but otherwise this isn’t bad at all. Good to see an attempt at some detail in the hair this time.
