@Xidphel
Look. I gave up trying to break the loops a long time ago. And changing the status quo doesn’t really appeal to me anymore, either. Cause even if I pull it off, we’ll just end up back here without any memory of it, right?
To be blunt, it makes it kind of hard to do more then let things come as they may and watch time drift by, knowing none of it matters.
Or is that just my poor excuse for being lazy?
Hell if I know. All I do know is, seeing what comes next, I can’t afford not to care anymore.
You forgot to mention you literally can’t get killed by Papyrus. Once your health reaches 1, he calls his attacks off, captures you, and puts you in his garage… which is easily escapable. If you fight him again and lose 2 or 3 more times, he basically gives up and gives you the option to just walk on past him.
Oh, forgot Muffet. Either eat a spider bakesale item to instantly end it, or survive long enough to avoid three attempts to feed you to her pet.
Basically, aside from one boss having a way to instantly end the fight, they ALL involve you surviving several rounds of combat without dying or killing them.
Edited
Lets see. Spoilers for how you beat all the bosses without killing them and who they are and stuff.
Toriel: Spare her about a dozen times, while not failing hard enough at dodging that you manage to kill yourself on her bullets in a single attack because they’ll avoid you if you’re low on health otherwise, then another bunch more times to advance the dialogue to the end.
Papyrus: Survive about a dozen rounds of attacks after he turns your soul blue (immediately if you try to Spare him, after a small number of attacks if you Flirt with him instead) until after he does his really cool normal attack.
Undyne: Survive about six or seven volleys of arrows until your soul stops being green, then run and immediately start running up and away. Repeat 2 more times, after which you can just immediately run every time, until she passes out from heat stroke.
Mettaton: In the first fight, Alphys is giving you hints, and even if you get wrong answers his zapping will never kill you. The rematch is basically just a scripted event. The fight against his EX form is just a matter of getting his ratings up to 10k (or 12k fast enough to avoid blowing all his limbs off) which will take a couple dozen turns. Asgore you can talk to, to lower his stats, but ultimately have to beat him down with FIGHT until it gives you back the option to Mercy.
Omega Flowey you have to survive long enough to interact with the previous humans’ souls, until you’ve rescued all six and can FIGHT back.
The true pacifist final boss you literally can’t kill by fighting, so you just have to endure their attacks a bit. You can’t die; its just an incredibly emotional victory lap for the player.
In the original game, Sans (and almost all the bosses in the game actually) attacked you as they were saying what they had to say. It wasn’t uncommon for something like “and after this battle, when I capture you…” * insert attack here * “I will be…popular! * insert attack here * But then…after that… * you get the idea * It was basically an indicator of how far in the fight you were (the things the characters say rarely change for any real reason during fights, and a couple of the fights went for a limited number of turns).
Fun fact: That line that replaces “you’re gonna have a bad time” is randomly generated out of a handful of alternate lines, like, “you’re gonna have a bath, Tim”, “you’re gonna have an unpleasant afternoon”, or “I’m gonna break your shins.”
But that’s ridiculous, right?
Yeah, you’re the type of pony who won’t EVER be happy.”
SO I ADDED SPOILERS IN YOUR SPOILERS
SO YOU CAN WATCH SPOILERS MEANWHILE WATCHING SPOILERS
COME HERE AND SLAM!
Because just like Sans, she interrupts her own monologue to attack?
Twilight’s words actually doing psychological damage to Starlight.
