It would certainly make for an interesting finale but this has never been done before with the show. I cannot see the show staff ending a season on a cliffhanger where it appears Starlight Glimmer has succeeded due to the target demographic of the series.

There isn’t a chance that will happen in my opinion. Hasbro will probably want to set-up the theme of season 6 starting with the premier.
