Choromatsu is the brains of the six and Osomatsu… well he’s the leader? So yeah pretty much what you said.
Fujio Akatsuka, who created the original manga, were friends with the Doraemon creators, having lived in the same apartment with them. They later shared the same office for a while.

What EQUINE_excite said. Also, the Osomatsu-san anime is based on a manga from the 1960’s called Osomatsu-kun. This show’s genius lies in the fact that the main brothers are fish out of temporal water and are trying (usually failing) to reconcile their 60’s values/characterizations with modern Japan and its media.
It’s based on the currently airing anime, “Osomatsu-san,” a comedy about 6 sextuplets.
