_It won’t work specifically because they’re located on the shoulderblades. Also, rotating the arm 180 degrees requires an immense muscle array plus shoulderblades plus collarbone. Like this all, they can only work in a cartoon - thus the conflict.
They work like arms, though. You can rotate your arm 180 degrees while your shoulder stays in place. And I believe that they’re located on the shoulder blades, because it’s the place where people usually put them.

It’s reality/cartoon mismatch. These wings are muscled correctly for reality… but they’re in very WRONG position to be real. Oh, and also turned in an impossible way.
But that’s how they’re supposed to be. Like, their wings are huge. If they didn’t have strong enough wing joints, they could have very serious problems.
Rainbow Dash’s joints are stronger than Twi’s in the same topic, because she trains flying more than Twi. It’s all a matter of muscles and anatomy c:

How so? It looks right to me.
