Description
“It is in a ponies nature to seek culpability in a time of tragedy.
It is a sign of strength to cry out against fate, rather than to bow one’s head and succumb.
Inevitably many will fault the hooves upon the sword that felled The Smokey Mountains, the Princess of Friendship.
But the Princess merely performs the duty of her office.
To further fear her is redundant; to hate her, heretical.
Those more sensible will place responsibility with those who forced the hoof of Princess Twilight.
With some fortune, they may foster this hatred into purpose, and further rule their own fate by coming to Equestria’s service.”

Yes, you do have a point there. There really isn’t a way to judge how much pony magic he had consumed at that time. Still, I can’t imagine he would choose to face three alicorns without as much magic as he could gather, and given that all the times we see him prior to arriving at Canterlot show him draining a variety of ponies at different locations of their magic, the argument could be made that he was already close to that. Plus in the end part where he is defeated, Twilight and her friends journey all over the map returning magic, so there is evidence to suggest large scale magic removal.
Had the magic of all of the ponies of Equestria*
It was never really implied or stated that Tirek had the magic of the ponies in Equestria. Celestia was just talking about Tirek’s end goal, not what he had.
Hmm… well, based on the season four finale, it seems like Twilight’s inherent power combined with the power of the other 3 princesses is roughly equal to the magic from all the other ponies in Equestria (plus Discord’s chaos magic). Now we don’t really know the extent and strength of the magic of the other sentient inhabitants of their world (Zebra magic seems more potion and plant based, for instance, and there’s no indication the yaks or buffalo have any magical aptitude), nor do we know what kind of magic creatures like dragons and phoenixes have, but there must be some kind of baseline level because Tirek was able to drain earth ponies in addition to unicorns and pegasi. So yeah, that’d probably be close enough to destroy much of the world.
Of course, if we really wanted to be sure, we’d just need to give her the alicorn amulet on top of that. If it could bring Trixie to Twilight’s power level (or higher), than putting it on Twilight Sparkle, while she’s wielding the combined magic of her entire world and everything in it, would probably put her close to physical god trope level.
All she would have to do is combine herself with all magic in Equestria, and then just force it all into one place.
