She’s also the Princess of Friendship, who studied friendship at Celestia’s behest. It’d seem pretty nonsensical if she couldn’t make new, strong friendships with others. Certainly losing some close friends would be tragic, but then shouldn’t her other friends be there to help her through that? I mean, it kinda seems like the idea that friends make even difficult things more bearable is a running theme through out this show…

No the true idiocy, is believing that you’re now longer allowed to be happy because of the dead of a loved one. It’s okay to grief and be sad but it’s not okay to let yourself down and feel miserable for the rest of your life. Sure nothing can replace the loses but that doesn’t mean your need friends are automatically less worthy.
 
And speaking about Moondancer: I think we can all agree that her behavior wasn’t healthy. She was so fixated one being the friend of one single pony that she ignored the other three (or four if you count Lyra) who wanted to be her friend right from the start. What I’ve Twilight never had tried to make amends? The Moondancer would’ve lived alone and in misery for the rest of her life just because of her refusal to have any other friends. You need to be open-minded and willing to make new friends and a Princess of Friendship should know that.

However, I cannot see Twilight NOT making friends with her friends’ families. Even out of respect, or compassion… Or just plain old friendship, really. She may not be as social as, say, Pinkie Pie, but I cannot imagine Pinkie NOT holding up a daughter or a granddaughter, and saying, “Heya, Twilight! Lookie what I made/Look, I’m a Granny Pie now! I’m sure you’ll be the best of friends!” And Twilight would then make friends with them, because she juat can’t say no, and the next thin she knows she’s made friends with the entire clans of Apples and Pies and Shys et cetera, and when her first friends do pass on, she’ll have scores of ponies plus probably her niece to stay with her and offer support, and then she’ll techincally still have friends, because there is no way a Pie would let her feel oh so glum all the time, and when she does decide to put down her role and/or train a successor, she’ll make sure her heir/heirs would be good ponies, and when she too will decide to pass on she will be surrounded by friends, and the prphecy did come true, sort of, and despite the deaths and all the ending is still happy despite the tears and oh god help me I sound like Pinkie Pie now.

But why are they thinking that Twi is immortal and they are not? Maybe prophecy meant to told them that they all gonna live happily till the universe ends?

Yes Twilight can never have any other friends than these five ponies and the dragon. If they all died due to some tragic circumstances she’s forced to live a life of loneliness and misery. Or she could make some new friends… but that sounds totally crazy because no one ever does that, right?

So what? They killed themselves, the populace became a mob and killed them, or Twilight killed them to stop the prophecy.

No, Twilight shud not be able to outlive her friends. At least, not all of them. Because Twilight IS the Princess of Friendship! It should be entirely up to her to choose…
