Better version of 848965, since it’s a scan of the original drawing. :P (I commissioned Andy to make it at Planet Comicon in Kansas City earlier this year).
In related news, I saw this headline two days ago:
“Sony to end sales of Betamax tapes next year.”

… So little context.
I’m 33….
@fixman88
Not you. You’re free to stay. Always nice to see another MLP fan in my age demographic…

@GuitaurenHero
The ßetamax WAS the first consumer VCR (not just ‘in a way’), I used to own a 1980 Zenith Video Director, a ßetamax VCR that was of those huge 40 pound ones with mechanical controls

@Masem
Yes, so was Dallas (“Who killed JR?”) and Falcon Crest, the 80s were the era of the hour-long prime-time soap opera. The modern equivalent would be shows like Mad Men.
@soundtea
Yes, that was a major fumble by the ßetamax creators. They made the cassette as small as it was and only an hour long because they believed that the big thing for it would be home videos, not movies (they came out with the first camcorder, the ßetamovie). JVC (who created the VHS format) got it right by making the standard tape speed 2 hours long and selling the VCRs for less and licensing the manufacturing rights with multiple companies. That, and I read that the porn industry settled on the VHS format early (the Rule of First Adopters), but I don’t know if that’s actually true or not.
Yeah.
Although the 1 hour limit essentially killed it when movies came to households.
Dynasty was a long-running prime time soap opera/drama.
Beta max was the first VCR, in a way.
Not sure what Dynasty was but I’m willing to find out.
(props to the Trapper Keeper, though.)
