Well, she did get to do more in the previous (second) movie. She and the other BG/bit characters got a bit overshadowed by the new “Crystal Prep” characters.
(Admittedly, some of ‘em were amusing, especially Sugar Coat. “You’re really bad at this!”)
I believe they were. To be honest their rivalry was way more interesting than Trixie vs. Twilight.

In fact, weren’t Dashie & Trixie rivals in “Rainbow Rocks” especially that one official animated short?
Such good terms that it’s never acknowledged in either the movies or the show…
They seemed on good terms in “Sunset shimmer’s time to shine”, not to mention the comic books.
