Now THIS is how adult Spike should look like.  
Its obviously based on his design on Secret of my Excess, but much more stylized and natural.  
God, I hope they really do state that the way he looked in SoME (and the new toyline) is greed-groth only, that his real grown self looks less “jagged” (for the lack of a better word) and more like this.

I don’t know. They didn’t even have to give him one chance. To me it felt like they were just messing with him for a little bit, because of his newbie status. I mean, all things considered, Spike’s a bit of a weirdo and he did just walk up to a group of older kids trying to fit in. The teasing from the teen dragons was actually more warranted and less mean-spirited in context than the teasing Spike from his pony friends in the first act, which sent him into an existential crisis.  
Gilda was more of a delinquent than the teenagers, because she actually stole. The teenagers were only delinquents if you consider it a crime to kill animals. Granted, it’s not a nice thing to do, but it is probably an every day occurrence among dragons. It makes sense for them to enjoy the thrill of the hunt, they are predators after all.  
We don’t know what they would have done with the egg after smashing it. Maybe they were still hungry after the party, or maybe dragons have legitimate reasons for killing phoenixes. But this is all speculation and I digress.  
I’m not excusing the behavior of the teens, I am just offering a different perspective.
 
Ponies have a certain way of thinking, which does not apply everywhere. Ponies aren’t morally superior to other species, but they seem to like believing that they are. Perhaps this is why many other species don’t like them much.

I don’t think Garble specifically hates ponies. He doesn’t hold them in high esteem, but that’s an entirely different thing. What probably did make him mad was that Spike and the ponies tried to undermine his status in front of his friends, or that they fooled him with the costume. Probably both.  
Who knows, maybe he was mad at them for showing up in the first place. For all we know the migration could be sacred to dragons.

They were delinquents and it sucks that they were all guys as it just threw more into the “lol boys are stupid bullies”.
 
And no, I can’t bring up Gilda since she’s been redeemed and always was thought to be seen the wrong way due to her history with dash.

I think that Garble just really didn’t like ponies and that made him more mad.

In the defense of the teenagers, they did give him four chances to join their group, even though they didn’t have to. After the initiation the teasing stopped and they had a party. Pretty forgiving on Garble’s part, considering Spike poked him in the junk earlier.
 
In the eyes of the teenagers, Spike was in the wrong for turning against the leader on his first day as a rookie. I don’t think Garble wanted to have to keep his friends in check after showing them weakness.
 
Yeah, Spike’s very young, but dragons may not care about that.

“Hey guys, remember when you bullied me and then bullied my friends? Remember how I couldn’t do anything because I was 1/4th your size?”

Aw man, this goes with my theory that Spike would hold a grudge for a long time and Garble just forgets about it and wants to move on. Would be interesting to see if they could be friends after that.

I wanna party with that Dragon.
