I forgot that was actually a real thing, because when I google searched it the wikipedia link was already clicked. I won’t forget this time, and expect more marblemac puns with this miracle rock.
It was named for the town it was discovered in- Cummington, Massachusetts, which was named for Colonel John Cummings. So it makes perfect sense, honestly- though that doesn’t make it any less hilarious.
I swear some geologist was high when they named it that…and thankfully they did, because the puns you could make with it are many!
I used to collect Quartz crystals and polished Hematite whenever we’d stop at a place that had one of those ‘fill up a small bag of cool looking rocks’ type deals. Because shiny things.
