It’s not really surprising to me really, it’s just odd how crazy Flutterfans tend to be. On top of downplaying or downright ignoring every instant Fluttershy does something mean, aggressive, or even violent, they also seem to take every good thing about her and exaggerate it to the point that they stop talking about Fluttershy and are talking about some over-idealized version of the character that has never even been hinted at.
 
Fluttershy is definitely the least eager to resort to combat, but that goes without saying because she’s honestly a coward. That’s not an insult, it’s one of her defining character traits. Heck, at one point her cowardice makes her resort to violence, busting Rainbow Dash’s ribs to manage to flee her own cottage.

This fandom does anything to ignore any potential faults in Fluttershy’s character for the most part. If a character screws up and does something wrong, they blame that character and criticize them. If Fluttershy does something wrong - like in PYHD - they blame the episode and the writers and don’t do anything about the character. It’s just how most of this fandom seems to work, so why this is surprising to you is really beyond me.
 
Also, I don’t think Fluttershy is a pacifist personally, but I still do find her to be the least eager to resort to combat and probably the weakest in combat as well - and I don’t think as much because of any of her virtues, just that she is too timid and weak willed to actually do anything unless it gets right down to the last damn moment, or even when it is already too late.

But the Medic doesn’t avoid combat, he just doesn’t typically fight personally. You can’t call a man nonviolent if he’s engaging in activity he knows will encourage and result in the harm of others.
 
As for the other thing, how people came up with Fluttershy as the sole pacifist among her friends I will never know. She’s not really any less violent than the others, she’s just typically too scared to do anything. Making Fluttershy the Medic just to satisfy a need to keep her as a pacifist is ironic because she’d still be fighting a war where she is perfectly aware her skills are being used to do harm.
 
Pom, being an expy of Fluttershy, can easily be assumed to be the same story.

It isn’t so much that they’re weak as much as it is that they avoid combat, as far as I can see. I don’t think Fluttershy would be all too eager to start attacking people without a reason that is personal to her, such as animal abuse or whatnot, and I can see the same going for Pom. Instead of hurting others, they would just rather be an asset to their own team.

Am I the only one who thinks typecasting the weaklings as the Medic is getting old? Especially because the Medic is one of the most powerful assets on his team?
