The elephant's voice is a reference/parody to old timey comedian Joe Besser, whom some may remember briefly joined the "3 Stooges" after Shemp died. (Though, he wasn't as good as Shemp, or Curly. He was a better comedian on his own, doing his own solo bits, or bit parts.)
