30.06 (and the nearly ballistically identical .308/7.62mm) ball ammo will go right through Level 3 polycarbonate, which is what they were testing in the Mythbusters video; you’d need Level 4 like a Humvee windshield, for example– to reliably stop full sized rifle rounds. Pretty much any rifle round from .223/5.56mm on up will also completely ignore almost any body armor that doesn’t include a trauma plate, by the way.
Odd. I’ve seen a video of someone shooting bulletproof glass with 30-06 and it didn’t penetrate.
Mythbusters. They were testing what was bulletproof. It went straight through inch-thick bullet proof glass. I’d imagine you’d need at least 3 inches to stop it.

Don’t take this the wrong way but if the soldiers say that’s what they did and after all the shit they went through I’m just going to believe they did those things whether it’s true or not, I mean if anyone’s earned the right to boast claims of possibly untrue exploits it’d be them.
