I thought that only worked on trees.
Lines that are acceptable though.
“Yeah, well, Apple Bloom’s parents are
DEADran away while she was at summer camp…”Of course, then the correct course of action would be laugh at them.
Unless they’re mean ghosts or something.
Not be an ass to the Apple siblings, but I hope so. Otherwise Diamond Tiara is the lucky one. Her mother at the very least takes an interest in her, while her father is actually a rather decent guy.
We can hope.
At least Diamond Tiara looks like she might have a chance to finally break the cycle.
In a sense Diamond Tiara is Apple Bloom’s worst nightmare, literally (she was a bully) and metaphorically.
Metaphorically in the sense that DT embodies one of the fears AB had about cutie marks (Bloom and Gloom), getting one she doesn’t understand or want.
Diamond’s many conflict what the misunderstanding not her mother - the mother served as the source and as context, but DT’s inter conflict was all her own.
DT’s songs and the clubhouse scene both showed that, like Troubleshoes, DT’s worldview is quite small and as such the inferences and decisions she makes can only go as far as that.
Same thing applies to AB. Sure her parents are dead, but most of AB’s conflicts in life have little to do that and as such the proclamation that it undermines DT’s mommy problems (which I’ve already poked holes in) is kinda flimsy to me for the above reasons.
Still a well made pic though.
This is true in Applebloom’s and DT’s case, but not true in general case.
Not even the trolliest version of Celestia would be able to think that far ahead or be so diabolical as to pass bitchiness down a bloodline. So, no, not actually serious.
That would be horrible. Almost as bad as releasing an old foe so he can help another old foe nearly annihilate all of pony kind, and then forgiving the former for his treachery.
Still, that kind of makes sense. My abusive mother was herself abused. It’s ‘traditional discipline’ taken to its logical extreme.
I would never defend Spoiled Rich.
buuuut…
(things are gonna get all Conspiracy Lyra up in this mofo)
What if she suffered similar treatment by her own mother who suffered similar treatment by her mother yadda yadda yadda so on and so on for many generations… who was treated badly by a foster mother named Princess Celestia so that, many years later, Diamond Tiara would be born and raised a smug bully who would be in need of reforming by three fillies who will earn their cutie marks and are destined to change the world?
We wouldn’t be if the picture wasn’t already doing it. We’re just responding.
“And at the other end of the scale, Kal-El Clark Kent lost his whole species and seems to have taken it in stride… I don’t know whether that’s admirable or disturbing, honestly.”
To be fair, Clark was an infant when that happened. He has no real memory of what life was like on Krypton.
And at the other end of the scale,
Kal-ElClark Kent lost his whole species and seems to have taken it in stride… I don’t know whether that’s admirable or disturbing, honestly.@SSJWolverine
I actually think that if her mom didn’t care, it’d be a step up from where Diamond Tiara is now. Just being ignored is one thing, scolding and derision any time a grade-schooler doesn’t display the kind of ruthlessness that would give a timber wolf chills or places anywhere short of the gold? That’s on a whole different level.
Diamond Tiara (yelling at her mom and dad): “Yeah, well, Apple Bloom’s parents are DEAD and they’re still better than you two!”
OK, then. Put yourself in his shoes.
You live in Gotham. You’re 8 years old. You just got out of seeing an awesome movie with your parents. You all decide to take a shortcut back to the parking lot. All of a sudden, some punk with a gun pops out and demands all your money. During the struggle, both your parents are shot dead and the mugger escapes. You witnessed everything and lived to tell about it.
This being Gotham, child counseling and psychology are crap, so you have to deal with the pain in your own way. All of the money in the world will never make the pain go away.
Of course, people handle pain differently. Dick Grayson had almost the same tragedy happen to him (family taken by crime at a young age) and he managed to walk away with a stable psyche, for the most part.
My point is, just because he has money doesn’t mean he’s immune to tragedy. As for what he does with the money, well, he donates large portions of it to law enforcement and to create jobs all over Gotham so people wouldn’t have to resort to crime. Bruce also realizes that it isn’t enough, and Batman still has a purpose.
As for this picture, I’m sorry, Bloom, but the others are right. Your parents may be dead, but the family that’s left still cares about you a great deal. I don’t think Spoiled Rich has a nice bone in her body.
