So yeah, that’s some lazy plot in that regard.

Now, I know there are a lot of people who like Yanderes and there’s nothing wrong with that, people are allowed to like different things, just stating my opinion.  
And in my opinion, I think you should properly explain why a character does what he does, hint at what made them so broken, makes us wonder why that’s how he copes with his problems this way, make us feel sorry for what has happened to him and make us truly horrified of what he does now, give us ACTUAL REASONS to be afraid of him other than “He has sharp object”, just don’t make Jason Vorhees without a Hockey fetish.  
Or just make a flat bad guy and make him over the top, like Kefka.

V Yeah… Yanderes do have the weirdest facial expressions.. not scary (at least not always), but just really really odd.. (just watch some episodes of Higurashi, were the girls go batshit insane)
 
I personally actually like that character-archetype (if it’s well done of course), since I do find them unsettling and very unpredictable (in the sense of “What the hell kinda fucked up thing are they gonna do?!”) and also kinda hot…

I haven’t ready/watched any anime, so I’m not familiar with these kind of characters.  
So, for now, I’m liking it.

Yandere is a term used to describe girls that, while on the surface are shy and innocent, are psychotic killers with severe mental issues, generally triggered by a broken heart or other social disapointment.  
I hate these kind of characters because it just feels forced that all that it takes for a human being to start taking joy in killing others is one bad relationship, not to mention I have problems being scared or frigthened by someone when I can dislodge their jaws with one punch.  
And the crazy faces, oh dear lord, the crazy faces, the crazy faces are the most punchable expression on Earth.
