Really good! At least, the Pony parts- I’ve never seen the other parts, but they sound interesting. Another thing of note is that, while there were apparently some big name actors, the voices weren’t that good. Anyways, the stories and characters and stuff were good, but the animation was low quality, typical for the eighties, and I already voiced my comments on the voice acting.
 
Tales:  
There was absolutely no reason for them to be ponies. They just did normal sitcom stuff. It was average, in a sitcom-y way. I can’t help but think that, if it were live action, and filmed with human actors, it might be rather popular.
 
G3:  
This is some kind of weird inverse of G1- bland characters, plot, dialogue, etc., but good voice acting and animation. I wonder if this is something the Tales ponies watched as small foals. We still produce cartoons similar to this today, but obviously not made with ponies. It’s something that’s cute, but senseless.
 
Chibis:  
I suppose it might be tolerable in the form of a drinking game… but, it sucks. I cannot help but imagine it being a popular video game in the Tales-verse, almost like Harvest Moon, or Animal Crossing. I’m not sure how anypony’d write it, but there might be some kind of odd variant of “The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing”, and other assorted creepypasta.

Midnight Castle was actually pretty awesome. Need to see the movie with the smooze. I actually did catch a few eps of the original show as a kid, and…yeah, not as good. STill, without them, you probably wouldn’t be here Twi.

G1 has some pretty good villains, even outside the premier movie.  
Sting from the first episode is a reformed bully/henchman.  
Gruega the mad goat wizard with a fetish for hands.  
Katrina, an old cat girl looking for the youth elixir.
 
Pity that the pony themselves did not get enough character development than the villains.

G1: Not bad, not good, but much better and darker than we give it credit.  
G1.5/G2:…..avrage disney channel show.  
G3/G3.5 Horrid

G1 was amazing, f’n Rescue From Midnight Castle was done by the same team as the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon and managed to be darker and more intense then that! Heck, G4 is in many ways an extension of the original MLP cartoon. Seriously, at least watch Midnight Castle before judging the early generation cartoons too harshly. It had a story, it had action, it had bad-ass dragons ripping the ponies from the ground in their claws and delivering them to a demon-thing to enslave and be transformed into dragons to pull his wagon. Just be aware the voice acting was a mess, not the actors fault, someone decided they should all talk like Derpy for some reason.
 
Pony Tails (G1.5) was poorly made and started the “girls want to shop and have tea parties” thing.
 
There was no cartoon for G2.
 
G3 and G3.5 were boring and had no story or character. Hasbro wasn’t even trying anymore.

I don’t know. Never saw any of the older generations.

From what I’ve heard the G1 movie that preceded the show was actually pretty fucking dark. I should watch that some time.
 
Looking back G1 was okay I guess, if a little vapid. But mostly harmless.
 
And then it just started to get bad.
 
Unfortunately I don’t know anything about G2. Or even if it was called G2.
 
G3 was apparently somewhat tolerable but was definitely the sign of the quality going downhill fast.
 
G3.5? shudders Need I say more than that? G3.5.
 
And then G4 happened and the rest as they say, is history.

G1 is actually kind of good, I’d go so far as to consider it the FiM before FiM.
 
Don’t believe I’ve ever seen anything of G2, whatever that was.
 
G3 is…bearable, I guess, but I find the characters to have no real discerning qualities to them.
 
G3.5 however, Oh my goodness, watching one episode of that made me nauseous. I say that with absolutely no hyperbole.

well only difference of g4 is they look shiny and better, purpose is still the same, to sell sell sell, but atleast they do it with grace

The only good old MLP thing was the pilot, after that MLP sucked until the Faust Nation attacked.

g1 had some pretty cool and dark moments.

And the less said about g3 and 3.5, the better.

G3 is shit. Rotten as all hell shit.

Lil’ plump, lil’ awkward. But they’ve got their appeal.

G1 was decent for a girly show.  
Then shit happened, and more shit and more shit.  
Then, epic win.

It’s not for me. Simple as that. If you enjoy it, fine. I just don’t care for it.

G1 was good, other stuff was just okay.
 
Some of G1 was good in the way FiM is, but some parts are only “MST3K-good.”
