Meh.  
 
The original, smooth headed alien was its own thing, an eldritch horror; all that queen and hive stuff came latter. “Resurrection” and “AvP” used smooth headed aliens BUT they filled the same role as the ridged headed hive ones from “Aliens”, they were exactly the same in all but appearence.  
It’s annoying when people try to rationalize the original as a part of the colony, let alone “lesser” version of the ridged headed one or a “worker ant” equivalent. Better to leave it alone.

because both are similar in strength, worriers are faster and more savage using there claws and teeth and tail, drones are tougher and more brutal using grappling moves and their inner jaw tongue

I suppose I should clarify that I’m only talking about the films. Some of the games have their own distinctions, which they make pretty clear.

Ya, there is even a “warrior drone: type, just warriors with smooth heads.

There’s no consensus, even in the fandom, about the distinction between specimens with smooth heads and those with ridged heads.

This makes no sense, the drones can’t fly(and if it’s speed you are going for, you forgot the runners) at all and the the praetorian is the strongest physically so that would be the earth ponies.
